Club Seeks Funds for Youth Programs
The Oxnard Boys & Girls Club has scheduled its annual fund-raising campaign from June 28 through Sept. 30.
Club officials said they hope to raise $35,000 this year. All proceeds will be spent on youth development programs at the Harriet H. Samuelsson Branch at 126 E. 7th St. and on four after-school programs.
“This is an excellent investment in our youth, when you consider that it costs our society $30,000 a year to incarcerate a youth in a correctional center,” said Oxnard City Manager Thomas Frutchey, who is also a club director. “At our Boys & Girls Club, it only costs $250 to sponsor one child for one year of activities.”
The club will accept any cash donation. Mail checks to the Boys & Girls Club of Oxnard, P.O. Box 220, 200 E. Bard Road, Oxnard, CA 93032. Donations are tax-deductible.
