Schott Cedes Daily Control of Reds Till ’99

Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott, under the threat of suspension from baseball, agreed Wednesday to give up daily control of her team through the 1998 season. She will retain her equity interest in the Reds but not serve as the team spokeswoman or participate in day-to-day decisions.
Schott, who was suspended for the 1993 season because of ethnic and racial slurs, was quoted in a recent ESPN interview as praising Adolf Hitler’s early years as German chancellor.
