VICTORVILLE--Celebrate Father’s Day at Huck Finn’s Country and Bluegrass Jamboree, June 14-16, at Mojave Narrows Regional Park. The spirits of Mark Twain’s memorable characters, Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer, are alive and well at the event, featuring catfish fishing, old-fashioned games and a circus. Headliner performers include Lacy J. Dalton and the Osborne Brothers. In addition to many other concerts, there are also music and dance workshops. Two nights camping/three days admission: $30, general; $12, kids 6-11; free for those under 6. Day admission: $7, general; $4, kids 6-11; free for those under 6. ISLETON--Some folks call them crayfish. Others call them crawfish. In Isleton they’re called crawdads, and there’s a festival in their honor, June 14-16 along Main Street. Featured at the 1996 Isleton Crawdad Festival: zydeco, Cajun and lots of other music, crawdad-eating contest, exotic foods, arts and crafts, a carnival and the Crawdad Parade. 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. DUNSMUIR--The Dunsmuir Railroad Days celebration is 9 a.m.-11 p.m. June 15 in downtown Dunsmuir. Activities include a parade (at 12:30 p.m.), model train exhibition, self-guided tours of the historic district; self-guided rail photography tours; mule-drawn wagon rides; live bluegrass music; and a crafts fair. The 19th annual River Run (two or five-mile run/walk) is $12. The Dunsmuir Daylight Amtrak passenger train will make a special scenic ride, also. COTATI--The 16th annual Cotati Jazz Festival brings live bebop, swing, blues and more to five venues in the downtown area. The festival is 1-6 p.m. June 15-16. Saturday’s theme is “Women in Jazz.” $12 for one day; $20 for both. Tickets are sold in La Plaza Park, downtown. (707) 523-8378.
SOLVANG--Live music and dance, and a variety of hands-on demonstrations of arts and crafts are highlights at the second annual Solvang Solstice Music and Arts Festival, June 21-23. The free event is at the Solvang Designer Outlets, 320 Alisal Road. Festivities are at 6:30 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
