Cal State Northridge 18, Northeastern Illinois 1--Eric Gillespie hit his 22nd and 23rd homers of the season and Jason Cole pitched a six-hitter for the Matadors, who shed the memory of a humiliating loss to Stanford by eliminating Northeastern Illinois at Palo Alto.
Northridge (50-17) had four home runs, a triple and two doubles among 19 hits. The Matadors scored in every inning but two and extended an 8-0 lead with eight runs in the seventh inning.
