Haft Patriarch Wins Case Against Son: Herbert Haft, of Washington, D.C.’s feuding Haft family, won control of the family’s real estate management company in a case against his son, Ronald. Judge Geoffrey Alprin of Washington Superior Court ruled against the younger Haft and a business ally, Donald Bourassa, saying they acted with “willful, wanton and reckless disregard” of Herbert Haft’s rights when they seized control of Combined Properties Inc. Father and son originally were allies in a bitter fight with other members of their family, but they began fighting after a settlement with other family members left it unclear which of them controlled Combined Properties. Ronald Haft and other employees seized control of the company in September 1994. He plans to appeal, his attorney said.
