Two Area Pitchers Invited to Combine

Pitchers Mike Kolbach of Mater Dei and Jim Munroe of Servite will participate in a three-day scouting combine in Cincinnati for prep baseball players, beginning June 21.
Seventeen players from California will be among a group working on its hitting, defensive and pitching skills in front of approximately 250 major league scouts and college baseball coaches. More than 40 minor league and 200 Division I players have participated in the combine, now in its fifth year.

Lionel Horn, an assistant boys’ and girls’ basketball coach at Santa Ana Valley High, has been selected the girls’ varsity coach, the school announced.
Horn, a 1980 Santa Ana Valley graduate, has been the boys’ varsity assistant since 1992. Last season, Horn assisted the girls’ team as well.
