Woodbridge’s Robitaille Pitches Third No-Hitter
Christy Robitaille pitched her third no-hitter, striking out nine, as top-seeded Woodbridge beat Rialto Eisenhower, 6-0, in a Southern Section Division II softball game Friday.
Robitaille (18-4) walked two. Woodbridge (25-2) plays Chino Hills Ayala in Tuesday’s second round.
In other Division II games:
La Habra 4, Fontana 1--Jennifer Smallwood and Lauren Roccio executed squeeze plays in the fifth inning to give La Habra a 2-0 lead. La Habra (21-7) play Saugus.
La Crescenta Crescenta Valley 7, Sunny Hills 0--Erin Luzzi had the only hit for Sunny Hills (11-13).
Palos Verdes Peninsula 1, Westminster 0--Peninsula (18-9) got three of its four hits in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Westminster (20-7) and pitcher Ashley Maranto (8-3).
Rosary 3, West Torrance 2 (8)--Junior Lesley Fulton, who had a two-run double in the fifth, had a solo homer in the eighth for Rosary (21-9). Julie Luna (18-7) broke Lori Schoeman’s 1984 single-season school record for victories. The Royals play Santa Fe Springs St. Paul.
La Mirada 2, El Toro 0--El Toro (19-13), which struck out 13 times, had two hits, by Dana Gulick and losing pitcher Suzanne Guy (9-4).
In Division III:
Brea Olinda 2, Glendora 1 (9)--Angela Thompson’s bases-loaded single drove in Susan Shuplock in the ninth for Brea Olinda (19-7), which plays Tuesday at Whittier. Geney Orris struck out 13.
Laguna Hills 6, Riverside Poly 0--Jenna Ramesh had two RBIs and scored one run for Laguna Hills (14-11-2). Mandy McMahon scored twice for the Hawks, who will play Whittier La Serna in the second round.
In Division V:
Calvary Chapel 10, Hemet West Valley 0--Keri Przygocki pitched a three-hitter for Calvary Chapel (19-9). Teammate Christy Ring had three hits, including a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs for the Eagles, who play Riverside Notre Dame.
In Division VI:
Capistrano Valley Christian 9, Redlands Calvary Chapel 4--Gini Carney had four hits and an RBI and Hayley Hall had two hits, two RBIs and two stolen bases for Capistrano Valley Christian (11-8), which will play Boron.
Liberty Christian 5, Southern California Christian 2--Natalie Bonillas had a two-run homer in the sixth inning and was three for four for Liberty Christian (12-4), which will play Riverside Bethel Christian.
