Marquez Home Run Gives JetHawks Win

MODESTO — Jesus Marquez’s homer with Carlos Villalobos on first base in the fourth inning Saturday night lifted the JetHawks to a 2-1 victory over Modesto in front of 1,846.
Ken Cloude improved to 3-2 for the JetHawks (20-23), pitching eight innings, striking out eight and walking one. John Thompson pitched the ninth to earn his fourth save.
The A’s (25-16) were held to three hits by Cloude and Thompson, but committed three errors, while the JetHawks were limited to five hits and made one error.
Rob De Boer scored for Modesto in the second inning on D.T. Cromer’s double.
