An anti-violence coalition led by administrators from Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills today will present a series of question-and-answer sessions and skits to children at Fenton Avenue Elementary School in Lake View Terrace.
The Northeast San Fernando Valley Violence Prevention Coalition program will feature ex-gang members, teachers and social workers.
The coalition, organized by Sister Beth McPherson of Holy Cross, works to reduce violent crime in the community by educating children about the consequences of violence. It comprises 40 community service organizations and agencies including the United Way and New Directions for Youth.
The workshops will be attended by fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders, Principal Joe Lucente said.
