Nick Adamson of Newport Beach moved into the lead of the Laser class, finishing first and second in the two races Friday at the U.S. Olympic yachting trials in Savannah, Ga. Adamson has an 11-point lead over Andy Lovell of New Orleans with four races remaining.

Lanee Butler of Aliso Viejo maintained her one-point lead over Jayne Fenner-Benedict of Salt Lake City in the women’s Mistral class. The trials conclude Sunday.

Mike Sturman of Newport Beach and Bob Little of Santa Monica are fifth in the men’s 470.

The Soling team skippered by Jeff Madrigali took a 2-1 lead over that of Gerard, Peter and Paul Coleman in the best-of-seven match race series to determine a spot on the yachting team.

Two other classes appeared to be virtually settled, with Courtenay Becker-Dey of The Dalles, Ore., building a seven-point lead in the Europe Class, and Kristina Stookey of Darien, Conn., and Louise Van Voorhis of Rochester, N.Y., holding the same lead in the women’s 470.
