Steward Named Santa Ana Valley Football Coach

Eddie Steward, an assistant for five of Santa Ana Valley’s last eight football coaches, was named head coach Thursday by Principal Bob Nelson.
Steward graduated from Santa Ana in 1967 and played at Santa Ana College before playing running back and cornerback at San Diego State under Don Coryell.
Steward assisted on Santa Ana Valley’s lower-level teams the last four years. He has been at the school 23 years.
“He’s hard-working and conscientious, and I feel confident we’ll have the stability and go forward with the momentum developed by Scott Orloff the past three years,” Nelson said.
Orloff left Santa Ana Valley after last season to take over the program at Dana Hills. He had directed the Falcons to their first league title in 17 years. Valley was 8-4 last year, 16-16 under Orloff.
