If minor league teams are supposed to learn from their mistakes, the JetHawks ought to be geniuses by now.

They lost, 10-3, to the Lake Elsinore Storm before a paid crowd of 3,143 on Thursday night at the Hangar, extending their slump to seven losses in eight games.

“I keep telling the guys that it’s going to happen,” Manager Dave Brundage said. “You are going to go through slumps. We were cruising before. It’s easy when you are getting good pitching and good hitting.”

The JetHawks (19-16), who led the league in hitting for the first month of the season, have slipped to fourth.

“We just need to focus,” outfielder Marcus Sturdivant said. “I don’t know what we are doing, but we’re not winning. We’ll get it going. I don’t know if it will be the next week or next year.”

They managed just six hits--five of them singles--against left-hander Jarrod Washburn, the Angels’ second-round pick last June. Washburn struck out nine and walked one in seven innings.

The JetHawks ended their 18-inning scoreless streak in the eighth against Grant Vermillion. Shane Monahan’s double, Scot Sealy’s triple and Carlos Villalobos’ sacrifice fly each drove in runs.

The JetHawks found themselves behind by at least two runs before the third inning for the seventh game in a row. Two throwing errors in the second led to two unearned runs for the Storm.

The JetHawks made three errors and have 32 in the past 10 games.

In the third, Tony Moeder hit a two-run home run off Brent Hinchliffe (3-2) to boost the lead to 4-0. The Storm added a run in the fourth and two in the fifth.
