2 Slain in Area Near La Jolla Country Club
SAN DIEGO — A man and woman were found Wednesday morning shot to death in a fashionable neighborhood adjacent to the La Jolla Country Club, police said.
Homicide Lt. Glenn Breitenstein said two skateboarders discovered a BMW in the middle of Fairway Road across from the country club about 1:35 a.m. A man was slumped over the steering wheel.
Police found that the man, in his late 30s or early 40s, had been shot several times. A woman, in her late teens or early 20s, was found in the driveway of a nearby $800,000 home, also shot to death.
Breitenstein said there is no known motive for the double slaying, but it appears that the assailant was waiting for the man and woman to either arrive or depart from the home. The county medical examiner withheld the names until relatives were notified.
