An illness more than a month ago forced Wester to take time out of the pool to get healthy. The break was needed but also disruptive to his training schedule. But Wester, who swam at Marina and Trabuco Hills, was able to make the adjustment and won three events at the state meet last week at Long Beach State. Wester won the 50 freestyle (20.65), the 100 free (45.47) and the 200 free (1:40.59). He was also on the winning 200-, 400- and 800-freestyle relay teams as well as the 200 medley relay team.
