FIRE CONTRACT RENEWED
Palos Verdes Estates has renewed its contract with the Los Angeles County Fire Department for 10 more years and plans to continue assessing property owners an annual fee for fire and paramedic services.
The fire district fee was recently approved by the City Council to help the city pay the $2.2 million paid to the county each year for fire services, City Clerk Barbara Culver said.
The fee, which residents have paid for the last five years, is used to help the city pay for fire and paramedic services that account for one-quarter of the annual operating budget.
