The American Assn. of University Women is inviting bandleader and composer Buddy Collette to perform at its June 2 fund-raiser, “Jazz for Thousand Oaks” at the Civic Arts Plaza’s Forum Theatre.
Collette, who has recorded and toured with jazz greats Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Charlie Parker and Ella Fitzgerald, will dedicate his new composition, “Jazz for Thousand Oaks,” as well as perform jazz standards.
Tickets for the 7 p.m. concert are $20 and proceeds will benefit the AAUW’s Educational Foundation, which provides scholarships to women for higher education and lifelong learning.
Performing with Collette in his all-star band are Bill Green on sax, clarinet and flute; Al Aarons playing trumpet and fluegelhorn; George Bohanon on trombone; Ronnell Bright on piano and vocals; Al Viola on guitar; Richard Simon on bass; and Ndugu Chancler on drums.
For tickets call 449-ARTS or Ticketmaster. For more information about AAUW’s jazz concerts call 495-4470.
