Police Officer Sentenced in Theft of $2,787 From Corpse

A Los Angeles police officer who was caught by her partner stealing $2,787 from a corpse in a Koreatown hotel last year was sentenced Wednesday to 30 days in jail.
Judge William R. Pounders also sentenced LaTanya Bell, 28, to three years of probation. She will surrender to authorities Friday to begin her sentence.
Bell was suspended without pay from the Police Department after her March 12 conviction on grand theft charges stemming from the incident and will be fired from her position, officials.
