Smith’s Idea of Team Starts, Ends With Him
The team concept in professional sports has long been dead. It was killed by crybaby players like Lee Smith, who ask to be traded rather than accept a role not befitting his huge ego.
Smith should do whatever is necessary to help the Angels win. He is being paid and that is all he should do. Whether he pitches in the seventh or ninth inning should not matter to him. The Angels should honor his request and trade him. The millions of dollars spent on Smith could be better used on younger players with more ability and less attitude.
