Hotel guests, lifeguards and others fought waves and debris to pull passengers from a sinking plane that crashed off Australia’s eastern coast. Nine Japanese tourists and a pilot were injured when the small plane lost power and went down in six feet of water off Currumbin Beach, about 40 miles south of Brisbane. Most of those aboard suffered only minor injuries. One woman was in critical condition.
