Drive-By Shooting Victim Identified
A 17-year-old who was fatally wounded in an apparent gang shooting was identified Monday as Fidel Romero of Santa Ana.
Romero and some of his friends were standing in the parking lot of a minimarket in the 2700 block of West Edinger Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Sunday when gunfire erupted from a passing car, Police Sgt. Bob Clark said.
Romero, who was struck in the head, was first taken to Coastal Communities Hospital. He later was transported to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he died at 2:50 a.m. Monday, Clark said.
