Twenty percent of the IRS work force should be given to the FBI and other federal police agencies to fight illegal drugs and immigration, House Speaker Newt Gingrich said. “You have to set priorities,” Gingrich told the National Newspaper Assn., complaining about “a growing crisis of government failure.” “We can’t stop illegal immigrants and we can’t stop illegal drugs, but we can audit every one of you,” the Georgia Republican said. “Where do we rank auditing individuals whose income is under $100,000 and auditing small businesses, versus where do we rank stopping drug dealers and illegal immigrants?”
