Public Input Sought for Beach, Palisades

Santa Monica’s beach and Palisades Park are popular for their natural beauty and panoramic views, but officials say it is time for the high bluffs and long white beach to undergo some man-made improvements.
The scope of the renovations will be determined by community reaction collected in a city-sponsored walking tour of the sites this weekend. Officials are expecting several hundred residents to participate, submitting suggestions for renovations at the various locations, said Judith Meister, Santa Monica’s beach manager.
Beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, participants can follow a self-guided tour along the northern city limits down the narrow park along the bluffs’ edge in Palisades Park, and then on the walking path south of Santa Monica Pier. Guidebooks can be picked up at the Senior Recreation Center at 1450 Ocean Ave.
