Van Nuys Merchant Takes Reins of VICA

Marvin Selter, who owns a Van Nuys-based employee leasing firm, has been selected as chairman of the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn.
He replaces former Pierce College acting President Mary Lee, who resigned last month.
As chairman, Selter said he wants to help revitalize industry and commerce in the Valley. “The Valley is and should be a very strong economic force, and I think we have to exert that force,” he said.
To do that, he said, VICA must encourage “the diverse segments” of the Valley’s business community to work more closely together to enhance business.
Lee, elected chairwoman six months ago, stepped down because she is no longer affiliated with Pierce College, which is a VICA member.
Selter, who was elected Monday, owns National Staff Network, which he founded in 1972.
