Quiksilver’s Income Up

COSTA MESA — Quiksilver Inc., a designer and distributor of casual and sports attire, reported that net income for the fiscal first quarter rose 40%, to $2.1 million, or 30 cents a share, from $1.5 million, or 23 cents a share, for the corresponding quarter a year ago. Sales for the quarter ended Jan. 31 increased 20% to $40.5 million from $33.7 million.
