Pasadena Muir 70, Bishop Montgomery 65--Muir battled back from a 12-point deficit early in the game and got 32 points from senior guard Quincy Stinson to win the Southern Section III-AA title game over Bishop Montgomery (23-3) at the Pond.
The unseeded Mustangs (22-10) trailed, 14-2, in the opening period, but began pressing the top-seeded Knights and rallied to a 41-28 halftime lead.
“We had to do something,” Muir Coach Bill Moore said.
“The boys were full of butterflies at the start and we missed some shots, so we just needed to change things a bit.”
Senior center Richard Maiden added 13 points for Muir.
Bishop Montgomery was led by Brandon Price and 6-foot-10 center Solomon Hughes, who scored 25 and 22, respectively.
Hughes also had a game-high 12 rebounds.
