A man stabbed an Oxnard woman at least six times in the chest with a pair of scissors after surprising her in her home, authorities said Saturday.
The 36-year-old woman was listed in stable condition at Ventura County Medical Center on Saturday night, hospital officials said.
The woman was in her home in the 200 block of East Hemlock Street when she discovered the man in her kitchen about 1:30 p.m.
He had entered through an unlocked back door, Oxnard Police Sgt. Ron Whitney said.
The woman confronted the man and he attacked her, Whitney said.
After stabbing her six to eight times, the man fled.
