In Brief : ** Neil Young, “Dead Man” soundtrack, Vapor/Warner Bros.
Like “Arc,” Young’s disc of in-concert feedback, this music from the upcoming Jim Jarmusch film highlights the rocker’s distinctive guitar work. But while it creates a fitting mood of dark despair, it lacks “Arc’s” shifting textures. And the audio clips from the film (plus Johnny Depp reading William Blake) don’t make it more than an inessential curiosity from a great artist.
