SEASON AT A GLANCE: Johnson won his third consecutive Golden League title at 160 pounds, placed first in the Southern Section Division IV finals, then won in the Masters Meet to advance to the State finals this weekend in Stockton for the second consecutive year. Johnson (54-1) placed first at the Barstow, Highland, Quartz Hill and Upland tournaments. His four-year varsity record is 146-16.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Johnson pinned Bill Teed of Corona Centennial in 45 seconds in the Masters Meet final Saturday at Fountain Valley High. Johnson had four victories in the tournament, two by pin. Johnson’s goal is to improve on his disappointing performance last year at the State meet, where he was 2-2, forfeiting his final bout because of a knee injury. “That’s going to push me to do better,” Johnson said. “I’m extremely confident.”
