License Plate Check Leads to Arrest of 9
WESTMINSTER — Covina police followed a truck loaded with stolen wine, sugar and clothing to a warehouse here Thursday and arrested nine men on suspicion of receiving stolen property, authorities said.
Police officers were checking a license plate of a truck parked on a Covina street and discovered that it had been stolen about an hour earlier from a department store in Duarte, Covina Police Det. Gregg Peterson said.
Officers followed the truck, which stopped at a wholesale warehouse in the 14800 block of Moran Street in Westminster.
Police arrested nine men, whose names were not available, and booked them into the Covina City Jail.
Inside the truck, officers found cases of wine, more than 200 25-pound bags of sugar and a cache of housewares, clothing and toys, Peterson said.
