Husband of Pointer Sister Sentenced in Domestic Abuse
The husband of a former member of the Pointer Sisters was sentenced today to three years’ probation, eight months’ community service and a year of domestic abuse counseling for a Christmas Eve fight with his wife.
Jeffrey Bownes, 43, of Pacoima also was ordered by Hollywood Municipal Judge Michael Mink to attend two Narcotics Anonymous meetings a week for 13 weeks, and to pay $2,000 in fines and penalty assessments.
Bownes, who is married to Bonnie Pointer, choked up as he apologized to the court for his behavior at his sister-in-law’s Hollywood Hills home. He admitted drinking alcohol that night and ingesting cocaine.
