Irvine Valley Shuts Out Palomar in Men’s Tennis

Leon Jakimic defeated Palomar’s Hung Le to lead host Irvine Valley over Palomar, 9-0, Thursday in nonconference men’s tennis.
Le won, 6-1, 6-3. Mark Ogle also won for the Lazers, beating Tuan Le, 6-1, 6-1.
In No. 1 doubles, Irvine Valley’s Bryan Johnson and Flavio Nucci won, 6-2, 7-5. Irvine is 2-0.
In nonconference women’s tennis:
Saddleback 8, Cerritos 1--Missy Hosoi dropped only one game in singles for Saddleback (3-0), defeating Rosanna Guevarra, 6-1, 6-0. With Jennifer Helms in doubles, Hosoi finished 6-3, 6-0.
In nonconference baseball:
Saddleback 17, Southern Idaho 2--Paul Day and Dom Lombardi had two-run homers for Saddleback (1-0). Thys Bakker, who struck out four, was the winning pitcher.
