UCI Falls to Santa Barbara in Volleyball
UC Santa Barbara remained unbeaten in conference by defeating UC Irvine, 15-8, 7-15, 15-7, 15-2, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball match Wednesday at Santa Barbara.
Chris Harger led Irvine with 18 kills and five blocks, helping the Anteaters win the second game. Jon Habben, formerly of Irvine Valley College and Whittier Christian High, had 17 kills for Irvine (4-3, 0-3 in conference). Santa Barbara is 3-1, 3-0.
After Irvine evened the match, Santa Barbara won the third and fourth games behind outside hitter Donny Harris, who had 25 kills and 10 digs, and middle blocker Rob Treahy (21 kills).
In nonconference men’s volleyball:
Long Beach State 3, La Verne 0--Gaby Amar had 13 kills and four blocks for host Long Beach State, which won, 15-2, 15-3, 15-5.
