. . . Developer and philanthropist William Lyon pledged $1 million toward completion of the $72.8-million Orange County Performing Arts Center.
The main auditorium was scheduled to open eight months later with an inaugural performance by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Lyon’s gift brought fund-raising totals to $58.5 million.
