On Assignment Inc. Reports 27% Profit Gain

On Assignment Inc. posted a 27% rise in its fourth-quarter profit, while its net earnings for all of 1995 jumped 29%.
The Calabasas-based company, which provides temporary laboratory workers, posted a net income of $1.25 million in its fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31, compared to a $985,000 profit a year earlier. Revenues in the latest quarter rose 29% to $16.8 million, up from $13 million in the same period year earlier.
For the full year, On Assignment had net income of $4.33 million, compared to profits of $3.35 million in 1994. The company’s revenue rose 28% to $62 million, up from $48.4 million in 1994.
The company attributed much of its growth to signing up 800 new clients last year. On Assignment supplies temporary laboratory workers for biotechnology, chemical and pharmaceutical customers and other industries. The company has 56 branch offices across the country.
