Passenger Dies in Crash With Truck
SUN VALLEY — A woman was killed Friday when the Nissan Pathfinder in which she rode rammed into the back of a flatbed tow truck, Los Angeles Police said.
The woman, who was unidentified late Friday, was a passenger in the Nissan, driven south in the 8100 block of Lankershim Boulevard by Gene Louen, 45, of North Hollywood about 2:40 p.m., LAPD Sgt. John Amott said. When Louen tried to pass a car on the right, he ran into the flatbed truck, which had stopped to make a turn.
The passenger bay of the Pathfinder was bisected by the back of the flatbed, Amott said. The woman died at the scene. Louen was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
