Chapman Routs Cal Maritime to End Streak

Chapman stopped a four-game losing streak with a 111-62 victory over Cal Maritime in college men’s basketball Friday at the Hutton Center.

Jim Falletta and Norman Coulter each scored 15 points for the Panthers (7-6), who led at the half, 58-24. Toby Curto scored 14 points and Umahl Anderson and Greg Vanden Ordel each scored 10. Cal Maritime is 2-9.

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Chapman 69, UC San Diego 68--Faye Cruz had 16 points and six assists for the visiting Panthers (7-7), who led at the half, 42-33. Flo Luppani had 15 points and six assists. Anne Westmoreland had 18 points for UC San Diego (7-4).

In Big West Conference women’s basketball:

Nevada Las Vegas 64, Long Beach State 63--Long Beach State trailed by four at the half and couldn’t catch the Rebels. Adara Newidouski and Janet Davis each scored 12 points for the 49ers (5-5, 2-1).
