No. 6 Stanford Rallies Past UCLA
Kate Starbird scored a career-high 33 points and No. 6 Stanford staged a late rally to beat UCLA, 81-77, Thursday night at Stanford.
Stanford (10-2, 3-0 in the Pacific 10 Conference) used a 13-2 run late in the game to turn a 70-64 deficit into an insurmountable 77-72 lead in keeping its 23-game home winning streak--the nation’s second longest--intact.
Nickey Hilbert led the Bruins (6-6, 1-2) with a career-high 29 points, hitting 13 of 22 shots from the field.
USC 87, California 80--Rashida Jeffery scored 20 points off the bench, including the first five in overtime, as the Trojans (6-6, 1-2) scored a comeback victory over the Bears (5-7, 1-2) at Berkeley.
Tina Thompson added a game-high 26 points for the Trojans, who overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half and ended a four-game losing streak.
Eliza Sokolowska had a Cal-record 16 assists and 16 points.
