Backfield Pair Trump Taft in San Fernando’s 18-13 Win

WOODLAND HILLS — Brandon Campbell and Keijuan Douglas combined for 293 of San Fernando High’s 334 total yards to lead the Tigers to an 18-13 Northwest Valley Conference victory over Taft on Friday night.
Campbell rushed for 131 yards in 13 carries and completed two of six passes for 78 yards. Douglas rushed for 84 yards in 24 carries and caught one pass for 68 yards.
The San Fernando defense did the rest, holding the Toreadors (5-2-1, 4-1) to 162 yards. Taft quarterback Nick DiPadova completed five of 16 passes for 79 yards.
On the team’s second possession, Douglas scored from 18 yards on a reverse option. The touchdown capped an 11-play, 80-yard drive.
The Tigers (5-3, 4-1) appeared to go ahead, 12-0, in the second quarter when Campbell hit Douglas on a 47-yard pass play, but an illegal-motion penalty nullified the score.
Taft then took a 7-6 lead on a three-yard run by Donald Carpenter.
Campbell scored on a four-yard run to give the Tigers a 12-7 halftime lead.
Douglas scored on a four-yard run for an 18-7 lead late in the third quarter.
