COSTA MESA : Talks Underway to Sell Harbor Center
Much to the delight of city officials and residents, the owners of an aging mall on the west side are negotiating its sale to a Newport Beach-based developer.
Steve Hopkins, president of Hopkins Development Co., which is in escrow on the 36-year-old Harbor Center, said that if the sale goes through the company likely would tear down some or all of the existing buildings and build new stores.
The mall, one of the oldest in the city, has struggled in recent years to attract shoppers as one store after another closed.
