THOUSAND OAKS — Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 15-year-old Thousand Oaks youth in connection with a failed carjacking on North Moorpark Road.
About 5 p.m. Thursday, investigators said, a Thousand Oaks woman was sitting in her car in front of Lens Crafters in the 500 block of North Moorpark Road. A youth wearing baggy pants and a bandanna and brandishing a handgun walked up to the woman’s car and demanded money. When the woman told him she had no money, he jumped into the car and demanded that she drive him out of the parking lot.
The woman drove the car to Paige Lane near California 23. When the suspect asked her to stop, she bolted from the vehicle. The suspect also left and fled over a fence. The victim called deputies, who found the teen-ager walking near La Granada and La Cresta drives, officials said. The teen has been booked into Juvenile Hall.
