Ingram Micro Parent to Split Up: Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro Inc., the world’s largest distributor of personal computer products, said it will become an independent, publicly traded corporation next year as part of a planned breakup of its parent company. Ingram Micro will be one of three separate entities formed when Ingram Industries Inc. is restructured. Ingram Industries is a sprawling Nashville, Tenn.-based company that holds businesses ranging from book wholesaling to river barge shipping. After that split, to take place Jan. 1, Ingram Micro will issue shares representing less than 25% of the ownership in the company. The Ingram family will retain a majority stake.
