SIMI VALLEY : Center Needs Items for Rummage Sale
- Share via
Looking to unload that not quite new sofa or that lamp bought in a fit of bad judgment? Consider donating old household items to Simi Valley’s Samaritan Center Rummage Sale set Oct. 7.
Residents interested in donating goods but who cannot deliver them can call the center to arrange a pickup, said Martha Miller, the center’s volunteer coordinator.
The year-old center provides warm food, coffee and clean clothing for homeless people in the city.
Every day, about 50 people drop by for breakfast, a shower or just a place to rest their feet. The center provides a place for homeless people to make local phone calls or pick up mail. It also has counselors on hand for those in need of the service, Miller said.
Run mostly by volunteers and with the help of donations, the center could also use donations of such things as clothing, blankets, toiletries, first-aid supplies, coffee, milk, bleach or detergent.
For information about donating items, volunteering or making cash donations, call 579-9166. The center is at 280 Royal Ave.
