Crespi Awarded Forfeit Victory

Crespi High was granted a victory in its football game against Serra last week after Serra was forced to forfeit, Crespi Athletic Director Andy Gavel said Friday.
Serra used an academically ineligible player in its 14-9 victory, Gavel said.
“[Serra] brought it to the attention of the Southern Section office and cooperated fully. They took the initiative,” Gavel said.
Crespi officials accepted the news of the victory like a loss.
“It’s tough to take a win [from Serra] because they worked so hard for it,” said Father Frederick J. Tillotson, principal at Crespi.
