OXNARD : Gunman Robs Girl, 12, of Gold Ring
An armed man robbed a 12-year-old Oxnard girl of a gold ring as she walked to school in the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue on Friday morning, police said.
“He approached her, showed her a handgun, and said if she didn’t give him the ring he was going to rape her,” Sgt. Ron Whitney said.
The victim described the robber as a man about 20 years old clad in a Los Angeles Raiders jacket, Whitney said.
The robber did not remove the gun from his waistband or harm the seventh-grader before he fled on foot, he said.
“It’s unusual for an adult to rob a child like that,” Whitney said. “Usually someone doesn’t resort to using a gun on somebody that age.”
