Volunteers Sought to Promote Library Funding Measures
A group supporting fund-raising measures for Ojai Valley libraries is seeking speakers to educate the public about library funding.
The grass-roots support committee--Save the Ojai Valley--will hold a training seminar Wednesday evening.
The volunteer speakers would make presentations to about 40 community and civic organizations about measures N and O, which will appear on the November ballot.
Measure N asks residents of the unincorporated areas of the Ojai Valley if they would be willing to pay $35 per parcel each year to support library services. Measure O asks Ojai residents the same question.
Trish Cavanaugh, community relations manager for Ventura County Library Services, will conduct the seminar and tell residents why the libraries need additional funding to maintain services.
The system’s three public libraries are located in Ojai, Meiners Oaks and Oak View.
The seminar will be held at 7 p.m. at the Ojai Library, 111 E. Ojai Ave. For more information, call 649-4607.
