The annual Ventura County African American Expo is scheduled for Saturday at the Oxnard Community Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
There will be a variety of exhibits by artists, community organizations, financial consultants and travel agents, in addition to a food court.
There will also be several free services, including voter registration and blood pressure testing.
Event organizer Delores Rawlins said the event plays an important role in the African American community.
“It’s important because there are a number of business and services provided by African Americans, but the community is sometimes unaware of it,” she said. “It also provides an opportunity for networking.”
Rawlins said the expo is for everyone’s enjoyment. “We need everyone to participate to make it a successful event,” she said.
More than 800 people attended last year’s event, Rawlins said.
Admission to the expo is $3 for adults, $2 for students and free for children under 12. For more information, call 985-0866.
