Antelope Valley Can’t Kick and Loses
MESA, Ariz. — Three bad snaps to the punter spelled doom for Antelope Valley College in a 27-15 loss to Mesa on Friday night.
Antelope Valley lost 132 yards rushing and gained 160, for 28 yards net, with more than half the lost yards coming on the bad snaps, which led to a touchdown and a safety for the Thunderbirds (1-1).
Shawn Sharp completed five of 14 passes for 91 yards, with two interceptions, and carried nine times for 35 yards and one touchdown for the Marauders.
Eric Watts had three receptions for 61 yards for Antelope Valley, which finished with 140 yards of offense. Mesa had 307 yards of offense, including 223 in the air on 14 of 30 passing.
