OUTLOOK
After serving as an assistant to Kris Van Hook for four seasons, Walters takes total control. Time management will be key for Walters, who also was recently hired as athletic director. Walters, though, will have help. The offense will be run by assistant coach Danny O’Neil. O’Neil has some experience in this area. The former Mater Dei quarterback starred at Oregon, which he helped lead to last season’s Rose Bowl. The new Calvary Chapel offense will feature more passing. However, it might take the players awhile to adapt to the new system because O’Neil only recently designed it. “I’m excited about this year,” Walters said. “We’ve got some good skill players returning. I think we’ll have a pretty successful year if we stay healthy.” De la Fuente, Kuhn and Young will play key roles. “They’re our big trio,” Walters said. “I’m expecting a lot from them.”
