Actor Larry Hagman has been released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a week and a half after surgeons replaced his diseased liver.
Hagman, who played the villain J. R. Ewing on the old prime-time soap “Dallas,” was released in good condition Saturday, said hospital spokesman Ron Wise.
The 63-year-old actor received the donor organ Aug. 23 in a 15-hour operation. Hagman had advanced cirrhosis of the liver, which he blamed on years of heavy drinking. He was placed on a national waiting list July 19 after a malignant tumor was found on his liver.
“There have been no problems,” Wise said. “The liver is working extremely well. There have been no signs of rejection or other problems.”
