Antelope Valley, Notre Dame Are No. 1 in Polls
Defending champions Antelope Valley and Notre Dame highs are ranked first in their respective divisions in the annual Southern Section preseason football polls.
Antelope Valley, which defeated Hart in the Division II final last season, is followed in the rankings by Muir, Hart, Peninsula, Quartz Hill, Dominguez, Saugus, Paramount, Hawthorne and Pasadena.
Notre Dame, which defeated Ayala in the Division III final, is followed by Ayala, Diamond Bar, Chaminade, Montebello, Buena, Westlake, Santa Barbara, Bell Gardens and Newbury Park.
Antelope Valley (Golden) and Notre Dame (Mission) also are defending league champions.
Defending Sunset League champion Los Alamitos tops the Division I poll, followed by defending section champion Mater Dei.
In Division IX, Nordhoff is ranked second, Harvard-Westlake third and Moorpark seventh.
In Division X, Village Christian is ranked fourth, L.A. Baptist sixth and Kilpatrick 10th.
Faith Baptist is ranked first in the Eight-Man Large Division. Flintridge Prep is third. Antelope Valley Christian is ranked second in the Eight-Man Small Division.
